What is the difference between 5 wire and 8 wire electrical?

Older furniture systems used a 3 Circuit, 5 Wire electrical system- 3 Hot Wires (circuits) 1 Neutral Wire, and 1 Ground Wire.

Todays electrical is usually 3-4 Circuits and has 8 wires-

A 3 Circuit, 8 Wire System is comprised of, 3 Hot Wires (circuits) 3 Neutral Wires (one for each circuit), a Common Ground Wire and an Isolated Ground Wire.
